RoboCup 2010 - Competitions Finished

Since yesterday all competitions of RoboCup 2010 are finished. We can be satisfied with our performance in the Small Size League. It is a pity that we lost in the quarter-finals with a close 1:2 against MRL (Iran), however MRL beat the team KIKS in the game for the third place and placed third in the overall competition. This means we lost very close against the third best team.
This encourages us to continue the work on our system with full motivation, to get a even better place next time since the results show that we have what it takes. Furthermore our hardware was very reliable and has been praised together with our software.

At this place we want to thank all of our supporters, especially infoteam Software GmbH, Thomas Wagner from Intego GmbH, as well as the supporting departments from the Technical Faculty at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
We hope that we can also get the required support for our participation at RoboCup 2011 in Istanbul, so that we may finally bring the world champions title in our league to Germany.

ER-Force vs. MRL - 1:2

As in any game it is also beneficial at RoboCup to know the rules. This was obviously not the case with the referee in our quarter final game against MRL (Iran). The first half ended with a close 0:1 for MRL. In the second half we, as well as our opponent could score a second goal. We were unable to shoot a penalty in the second half, because the referee had blown the whistle at the wrong time, which created a game situation that did not conform to the rules. A direct goal we made was not counted because according to the rules the wrong kind of freekick was given. So one goal and a possible second one did not count. The referee - after a lengthy discussion during and after the game - also admitted his fault later, but this was of no use to us as the game was already over. In retrospect a win would have been possible. Although we didn't win this game and the competition is over for us at the quarter-finals, we are satisfied with our performance (and the performance of our robots) and we are happy to have a archived a shared fifth place. Hence we could increase our performance compared to last year and hopefully we are soon one of the best teams with a trophy.

ER-Force vs. RoboDragons - 10:0

Our last round-robin opponent, RoboDragons (Japan), sadly ran into technical difficulties during the game. After five goals by our team, RoboDragons forfeit the game, resulting in a final score of 10:0. Hopefully they can fix their problems to be able to continue to the quarter finals. For us however, this means we are directly qualified for the quarter finals, which will be held tomorrow.
